Thanks for the kind words Brentnz and I agree the fordsons do look good although I am rather fond of my scammell .. but that`s another story!
Just a few more pics of the pickup with springs, axels, propshaft and some wheels fitted. It now has new tyres and the brakes have been re-lined although we don`t expect them to be that great! Were they ever??
Thanks to Col I think we have located a new chrome windscreen frame in the US at a reasonable price ...fingers crossed
We had one stroke of luck at the Beaulieu autojumble a few weeks ago in a decoke gasket set for the 17 stud v8 at only £20! What a bargin?
Anyhow here are the pics and I will post more as we go.

That looks to me like a British Road Services (BRS) tarpaulin. They were the road delivery arm of British Railways.
The depot in Glasgow was in Salkeld Street - where I rediscovered my 1956 Cresta in a railway arch after selling it ( regretfully ) 24 years earlier !
I'm now hoping to restore it to it's previous glory !

I don`t know? I`m showing off my progress and all they want to know about is a sheet! Lol. when I have a moment I will pull the ply away and have a look but at the moment it`s keeping the wind out of our workshop!
I like the cresta. does it need loads of work?
On a different note, back in the summer, I bought a Bedford RL lorry which had been in a barn for 9 years. It is in remarkably good condition and having no time to move it I had hoped to leave it where it was for the winter ........Then came the phone call! So today I went and got it out and, after a bit of cleaning the points, started it up! It runs fine but the clutch is stuck, I am going back tomorrow to try and free it off and hope to drive it home at the weekend as all the brakes etc seem perfect.
The problem I now have is storing it as we are a bit full up at home so it might have to be sold if anyone is interested.

Hi Rick
Thanks for the welcome Yes, the (1961) Zephyr Farnham Estate was mine too - owned it from 1976 - 1980.
My wife and I used to go touring in the highlands in it - it was almost like having a mini Dormobile !
I'll definitely start a thread on the Cresta - looking forward to making some progress now ...

Rick,
I must admit that when I set off this morning I didn`t particularly relish the task of laying under the bedford in a cold, wet and muddy farmyard!
If I had to remove the gearbox it didn`t look too difficult, only a few bolts and plenty of room to work under there, but I decided to remove the cover on the bottom of the bellhousing first to see what could be done there. With the help of a friend and a screwdriver we kept the clutch pressed and managed to get the screwdriver between the plate and coverplate, we turned the engine a few times repeating this operation ....and clunk .......it freed off The whole process taking around 3/4 of an hour from start to finish with cover fitted and tea breaks!
The lorry is now driving fine, taxed and ready to be driven home tomorrow.
Fingers crossed,
Jon |

The bedford drove home with no problems ... here are a couple of shots of it in the yard ....now to try and squeeze it in somewhere
And I am told this is the original milage!

A belated happy new year to everyone and sorry for the lack of posts but we have been very busy getting on with our various projects.
Over the holiday period we managed to get the engine and gearbox painted and back in the chassis, there is still work to do on the engine but it is all top end so no problem to do in the chassis.
We are at now working on the truck body and I will post some pics of the progress soon,
Has anyone noticed it`s very cold? Well it is in our workshop anyway!
