Hi

What is the oldest Form of transport that belongs to any member on here?

It can be anything with wheels?

Cheers

Dave

mine is probably the Austin (1934), I've a funny feeling you might be able to beat this though if all forms of transport are included. Actually my old Tri-ang pedal car is late 20s, early 30s, does that count as transport?? Wink

I am not even in the running even although it is the oldest marina on the road in Britain.
Now if the question had been the oldest of no particular model then I would not have felt so out of it Cool Cool

Hi

Anything with wheels, so a pedal car will count, so will may other things!

Any other early machines/wheeled objects?

Cheers

Well, I am not too sure, hence asking!

My attempt is 1879. Pics and details to follow later, if my camera works!

Cheers

Hi

This is my new baby. C 1879, needs a few bits doing, but is useable, very big and heavy, but most important to me looks attractive in my eyes, is useable, it was useable back then so it is useable nearly 130 years later, and as I love early stuff this is the main feature.

What do you think?

Found there was a little play in the steering, so have shimmed it up a little, to be tested at the weekend if it is nice weather.

Front wheel is 56"

More/better pics to be taken at the weekened, when it is light outdoors.

It does have a great feature an early rear brake, but I have never had a brake before so I am non too bothered it isn't very effective, a bit more interesting than a front spoon brake though. Also note the pegs on the forks, incase I was to go down a hill, another great feature, will try to keep my feet on the pedals however! Laughing

Cheers

Dave

It looks great Dave, and good to see that 130 years after it was made it is still going strong

Hi

Thanks, yeah I am pleased it is strong, and it has not been all painted up shiny. It doesn't look rough, but the addition that have been replaced have not been made to try and fool people into thinking there are orriginal. It is honest in my eyes. The saddle obviously, and the pedals are replacements, as are the handle bars I think, be it old replacements, but then again, how many 130 year old cars have no new bits?

Cheers

New collection, could well be, you can get alot of these in the shed, unlike bulky cars, but I need to save some money for the next one. I had the chance at another a couple of days ago, but decided against it.

Not sure on the make and model, something that I need to work on. There is a number on the top of the backbone by the headstock, the previous owner said it was possibley coventry machinest, but I don't know if it is. Would be good to find out!

Cheers
