Today I did the door trim, unfortunally was the trim for the drivers door fitted with the fat B20 plastic clips at some stage, so it took a lot of work to get it usable again.
Flattening =
All 4 done, even found a spare RH rear.

Tonight it was time to address the dull looking safetybelts.
The part with the best chrome, is the one you hardly see
Got all the scratch marks from the hanger removed
first one done
Last one.
Have a question = has any of you guys taken one of these apart ? and if so = is the Green sticker available as repro ?
The passenger one has some blisters in the chrome, would be nice to get it rechromed someday.

Good work JC. Chrome or stainless steel? Would you mind explaining how you removed the scratches? _________________ a car stops being fun when it becomes an investment |

Thanks, takes a lot of time.
the trim under the side windows is stainless, so the dents in that can be filed down, before attacking them with fine emery paper & last polishing them.
Lot of work (and patience) before the finish was OK.
The chrome on the seatbelts, was only polished with the buff up stuff, on the cloth disc, and finished with a bit of Brasso.

Have swapped the plastic indicators I fitted in 1982.
Now with correct type.

As there is no section for "grumpy old men" I share this with you lot inhere.
Not a lot of you are aware of how crazy the rules are in Denmark in regards of cars.
We have the most expensive cars in the world = 180% tax & VAT on a new car,
but atleast we use to get cheap road tax, when the cars become 35 years old.
Furthermore did we only have to take them to the MOT, every 8 years, after they become 40 years old.
Now the Danish goverment has come up with new "schemes" to inflict upon its hard working - law obedient tax payers
They have hired a group of people, who will travel around the country, and check all the classic cars, to see if they are original.
And by "original" they mean "as when 1st registred"
If it then turns out, that its not = the later imported classic cars, get a huge fine, and have to pay full registration fee = 180%.
The registration fee that they already paid, on their imported classic car is LOST = no refund, so that is the 180% plus a petrol fee, which also is a lot of money.
Cars that have been here since new, loose their classic status, and have to pay full road tax again, and be MOT,d as new cars again
The demands are completely crazy = you cant upgrade to electronic ignition, you cant put on better brakes etc etc -
the car has to present itself 100% as when 1st registred.
End of rant (for now) - enjoy your cars, and praise the lord, that you dont live in Denmark _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

Hi
Better take those consumable air fresheners out then.
Can you still buy Lodge Spark Plugs if that was what the manufacturer used?
Did the car come with anti-freeze in it if delivered in the summer? _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Hi Rick, yes, and they are "on it" so lets hope for the best.
I am unsure to whatever the WP was already registred or not, upon the time when it was taken to England ? I know the British ones were, as I have pictures, from inside the workshop.
If the car was registred = it means I have to tear out everything W&P build into the car.
Then there is the JanSpeed conversion = it was done, when the car was 12 years old, so everything will have to be removed.
The biggest problem is not just for me = imagine if they enforce this, and other goverments around Europa find out = then it will spread. _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |

I am sure she would like that but I take my chance & keep her.
Spoke to a guy today, he was present, when these laws were written, and he told me that they were made in 1988.
They were intended to target the classic cars at that time = which meant cars from before 1953.
No one gave 60 and 70ies cars any thoughts, and as we all know these cars are the most modified "in period" of all time. _________________ http://www.eurods.eu/wp/index.html |
