I think so too - a very nice looking car - a pity it not sell very many. My mother owned a Goggo in the 1960's and I learnt to drive in it.

Thsi was much smaller and basic

It had a rear mounted 300cc twin aircooled two stroke with dynastart, I think it had 4 speeds. It sported suicide front doors and very direct rack & pinion steering on 10" wheels. The petrol tank was behind the rear seat, gravity fed to the carb with the tap (and reserve position as no fuel gauge) on the rear parcel shelf. Petrol filler was under the engine boot lid. There was no front boot - your legs went almost to the front panel!

For a late 1950's model it was well equiped with heater (ducted from teh engine cowling complete with oil and exhaust fumes) flashing indicators with built in parking lights

How do the "suicide front doors" work with the door handle where it is?

The one pictured as with later TS Goggos does not have suicide doors - the door handle inside and out is at the front edge with suicide doors - no linkage required and much easier to get out

Aha, Dexter Prices' Concept 37 Vauxhall Calibra.

Looks like a fairly recent photo of it, it was off the road for a couple of years having some work done to it.

Sorry, I should have explained that the photo is Job-Rated's. I just borrowed
it from the dashboards thread. http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/forum/phpbb/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6156&start=30

To be correct, it has a FRONT mounted 700cc twin cylinder aircooled FOUR stroke with dynastart, driving the rear wheels through a 4 speed Porsche type (fully synchronized) gearbox. This model NEVER had suicide front doors. It has WORM type steering on 4.80 x 12” wheels. The petrol tank is UNDER the boot floor, there is an engine mounted Solex fuel pump. There is no reserve position, as there is no fuel tap, but a reserve warning light. Petrol filler is ABOVE the rear bumper. Your legs don’t go near the front panel, but the firewall. It was well equipped, having what the manufacturers describe as an Air Conditioning Plant for the heating system.

It did have separate flashing indicators, but the parking lights were in the headlights.

Otherwise, the answers were correct!

I was only referring to the TS models - the one pictured is obviously far later on but small TS were probably still being made then?

Obviously the TS models are as rare as this one these days - I have only ever seen one in the UK at a rally 3 years ago.

Where/when was this mystery car taken - does it still exist?

The car still exists, but I dont know when the photo was taken. This photo was taken on 23-August-2008.

Its one of 87 585 manufactured, of which 73 are known to exist, and only 48 known to be scrapped

FYI, 280 709 of the two strokes were manufactured.

Has it not already been restored by UJ as in the start of this thread?

The nice thing is not the coincidence, but the fact that there are less than 4 months between the photos.

What do you all think of the shine of the 2k paint?
