Would 90ft/lbs for main bearing caps and 33ft/lbs for conrod caps sound about right? Having trouble getting suitable data.

Oops forgot to mention that Embarassed

For a 3993 Austin Sheerline DS5

I've since found data for the later DS7 engine

Conrod Big ends 600 lb/in (6.913 Kg/m)

Main Bearings 950 lb/ins (10.914 Kg/m)

Anyone know how to convert to ft/lbs? Shift the decimal point?

Hi
12 inches to the foot so divide the lb/in figure by 12

50ft/lb and 79.16666666666ft/lb by my reckoning

Hi Brian,

I probably have the settings but I'm away from home until the end of March and don't have access to them but the values you quote do sound quite reasonable.

Thanks Peter

I still can't find anything definitive but I think I'll go with the DS7 data.

Cheers Penman. Maths not my strong point!

Don't like to push another forum, but there is one for your car and you will meet a bunch of very capable and knowlegeable 541 enthusiasts.

Plus you will find out where to buy a CD that has everything technical for a 541 that you could imagine.

PM me if you need any more info (or maybe you are a member anyway?)

And apologies to the admin if this is against the forum rules, please delete this post if that is the case.

Thanks Keith

I have Mike Byrne's CD already, in fact I been looking at it today and very good it is too but everything for 541 that I can imagine, except the data I need or at least I can't find it. I have PM'd Mike too, maybe he's busy.

I have also have had a thread on this subject on the JOC forum since before I started this here, as yet no replies.

Don't wish to get into the pro and cons of single marque clubs but I always get better responses here.
