One of these seems to turn up every couple of years. I think they're complied by five-year-olds who are shown pictures of each car. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. It's even more surprising that they made 15,000,000 before people realized it was a rotten car. Sounds like the sort of accurate survey our government might make. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. Pigtin,
I saw a bit of 'James May' on Dave today and he was out and about in a Model T. He eventually walked away and left it at the side of the road. He reckoned if it was low on fuel it couldn't go up a hill as all the petrol ran to the back of the tank while the fuel pick-up was at the front R/S corner. He said if this happened the driver had to get the car turned around ??? and reverse up the hill.

I'm surprised at JM. I thought everyone knew that you had to reverse a model 'T' up a hill if it was low on petrol. It added to their charm. The same was true of most cars with gravity fed systems, including the early Austin Seven. Stands to reason dunnit. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special. I have written a book though. https://amzn.eu/d/7rwRRqL |

Hi
I always thought that the reason for the advice to reverse up steep hills was because reverse was a lower gear than 1st. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

You're right there Penman, I'd forgotten that but low petrol in gravity systems was also a problem. Best to top up with the spare can I suppose. _________________ Due to the onset of my mid eighties I'm no longer sprightly and rarely seen in my Austin special.
