i am not sure if this is the right section to put this on but we have some Dunlop Wheels as below they are 4 stud, does any one know what type they are, age and what other classic cars they would fit? we have taken them off a 1966 humber
we are still clearing out and took this badge of a Firenza a few years ago it is a bit worse for wear and has a V one side 40 in the middle and M on the other any idea what it stands for?

If I wasnt so far away from you I would buy them. They look as if they would fit the Marina. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Dunlop brought a range of alloys in the early 1970's, ranging from 10" x 5"s and 10" x 6"s for Minis* and various other sizes upwards, including yours. Ford Escort springs to mind for the 13" wheels and I certainly remember them on a friends new Escort.
Obviously the PCD on these wheels is a crucial factor here to determine which cars they will and won't fit, but that can be measured.
Not really that popular a range, so I would imagine fairly rare nowadays.
(* I had both sizes on various Minis I owned and the 6" ate wheel bearings like there was no tomorrow - but they looked really cool! )

Oh yes Bob - saved up for them and Dunlop tyres to match. The 5" Dunlop Mini alloys had a cricle of raised edge "square'ish" holes on a plain face, no radiating ribs like your example above.

They are Dulop Formula D1 Lovely wheels and in period they were a popular aftermarket fitment to Morris 1300GT MK1 Escort and IMP
Remember that in those days it was not considered a good idea to fit bigger diameters than standard because the range of tyre profiles was limited. Wider yes... Bigger No.
All of the above had 12" wheels AIRC so yours at 13" with a small PCD I would guess Midget, Anglia or Herald. |

Now stretching the old grey matter to the limit...
If they came off a Humber then probably a Sceptre or similar...
So that's like a Minx right? And their wheels fitted Cortinas/ Anglias
which was a 4"PCD!
As for date. I would say available... from 1966/7 to about '72 |

it was a 1966 Mk2 sceptre which we have just sold and to upset a few people she will be going banger racing, our way of looking at it is that if a sceptre owner really wanted it for spares they could have bid, we did tell the lads what to take off it if they wanted to try and get some of their money back . back to the wheels we were told once that they were cosmic? |

Guaranteed not Cosmic although they are often confused because Cosmic became the generic term for mid range aftermarket alloys in the 60's.
IMHO rarer and more desirable than Cosmic.
If you are selling then you would have a much wider market if you promote them as fitting Cortina/Anglia/Capri And Minx' through to Arrow models. I think they would fit my BMW 2002 as well... but I have my heart set on some Minilites!
Best of luck with them and if you still draw a blank let me know before they go in a skip!
Spotted a set on a 1300 last weekend and still raving about 'em! |
