About 150 Austins have hit Perth from all over Australia. Many have been driven over 3000km to get here!

I have attached a few photos, just a cross section. It was a hot day and I was a marshal, so I didn't get to photograph anywhere near as many as I should. For example, A30's were very well represented, several having been driven over from Queensland. (That's about as far as you can drive in Oz without getting your feet wet!) There were also a large number of Austin badged Farina BMC's of the 1960's. It has been a great Event that does not end until tomorrow night!

I like the look of the little Austin Lancer, is it twin or single carb?

MO
The weather yesterday was terrific. We were very lucky, because today it has been raining all day!
From memory, there was only one truck. An early fifties 3 tonner. It was in very nice condition. There was an A40 ute, a couple of A70' utes and about three Austin 1800 utes.

The Austin Lancer and also it's stablemate the Morris Major were clones of the Riley 1.5 and Wolseley 1500 sold in the UK with grille/bonnet/boot modifications. They started life with the BMC series "B" 1500 motor , then graduated onto the 1622 engine. The Morris had a large rectangular grille and was rather ugly (IMO) but the Lancer looked rather like the Riley. They came as standard with a single SU carby, but the one in my photo actually has a twin SU set up on an MG engine.
