As far as I know Mercedes will supply parts for all their previous models.

I have a mate who works for a Mercedes dealership and he had to send to Germany for a brakepipe for a Gullwing, at the same time a waterpump was ordered for a modern C-Class. You guessed it, the brake pipe arrived the next day and the waterpump arrived 4 days later Rolling Eyes

You are correct- MB will supply parts for any vehicle they ever made.

Pre 1950s not cheap but most parts are reasonable

It was some years ago, but I was able to buy a new door shell for my 170sv and it took three days to my front door Smile

Seems like a lot of money for a pile of bits rescued from a scrap yard.

Yes shame, I think its so much easier to strip a car down then to start to put back together. Its also hard to keep the momentum up when it takes such a long time to restore a car. Places like this are really good for helping each other to keep your chin up.

Respect to you all!!

Time invested = end result.
I like to get one bit at a time done, after all if we break the job down into small bits we have little victories and satisfaction that it has been done right. I wonder how many restos get started and never finished?

Lots I bet (get started and never get finished). There are lots of Lotus Esprits like the one I am restoring that people start to do a V8 conversion. Its a really difficult conversion and you end up with a car thats financially worth less as its not original. Not as quick in most cases either!
