Hi, just joined so quick note.
I have a 1933 Ford Model Y 8hp sidevalve 4 door de-luxe saloon in blue/black. Been working on/off on it for 9 years, but getting to see a finishing date.
It had been laid up since 1963 in a garage and covered in rust bloom. All & every rubber part solid/perished. Engine had meltdown in bearings & seized.
Rebuilt an engine from scavenged parts & running OK. Front nigh complete, most body painted (except doors) now working on rear end. Problems with shocks, brakes, shackles & wheel bearings.
Hopefully MOT this year and perhaps visit All Fords at Gaydon in July.

Welcome to the forum Bluebird

I've had a few sidevalve Fords, but this was the nearest I got to having a Model Y Laughing

Crying or Very sad Wow!

Interestingly, when a mere boy some 47 years ago, I had a 1933 Austin 10hp Saloon and had great fun in it 'till I sold it to raise cash for my wife's engagement ring. I had hankered for that for years which is why I took on the Ford 8hp. I reckon I can still remember everything about the Austin as I swapped engines, axles etc many times. There's something about the smell of old oil and worn leather!

Welcome to the forum Bluebird,

Considering the vast quantities made, there seem to be very few Model Y's left in captivity, so it's great to hear of people restoring them. As a boy in Essex just after the war, the roads seemed full of them.

I'm looking forward to seeing some photo's of yours.

Thanks for welcome note. There are quite a few left over here & the Y & C Register has Model Y & variants plus 300 "C's", "CX's" & Eifels on its register worldwide. See http://www.fordyandcmodelregister.co.uk/
I have a blog of progress with a few photos. More on this site when I have mastered uploads!
It's a quaint car - primitive even, but that makes it interesting. I've just done a few more hours (after clearing up my tools that were in a mess. Painted a bit of underneath that I'd de-rusted previously. Work is a bit slow at the moment so more opportunity to get out there.

Very Happy
Just to catch up.
2011 was a great year as the Bluebird was up and running, having passed it's MOT late 2010. (and again late 2011)
Managed to get out and about to many shows etc including Gaydon Old Ford Rally, Classics on the Green, Croxley Green, Royal Egham Show, Uxbridge Autoshow, Enfield and many smaller venues.
Met up with some great guys.
Few small hiccups - carb/dynamo/dizzy but fixed now.
Car not completed - still needs work on interior and roof, but well on the way.
Big list of "to-do's" for the winter.Watch this space.
