he car is now painted and the final work begins. Nail biting time!
You'll note the bonnet roundel looks far from white and this is intentional, as is the matted down colour of the paint. The intention is that the car would look as it came out of the Jaguar factory in 1952 and modern water based paints are too bright and shiny so we have added a good dose of matte to tone it down. I can't stand chocolate box finishes on classic cars! Also the parts you can't see have been painted in antique silver (chassis and cockpit) again to look completely in keeping. As has been mentioned above, I am at pains to make this a truly authentic recreation of the original car as possible despite the paucity of information available. I even found, thanks to a tip off, the original 1952 air to pump up the tyres down in the Northern tube line |

Note the legs at the bottom left of the apprentice checking as they unload it! To be sure, I am somewhat worried about putting it on my trailer too! |

Really in the home straight now. Grille brassed and chromed and in place. Side lock chrome handles to fit, straps on bonnet and, well, general detailing.
Spare wheel retaining strap from an original C type - note the tiled boot floor! Seats trimmed in leathercloth (not leather) just like the original. Transmission tunnel away for teimming. Note how near the back axle is to the drivers seat.
Car to be collected next Wednesday and then the drive to Silverstone for the weekend. |

Hi
Looks quite a tight driving area, seat to steering wheel etc. Very posh though! Have you any side pics as is now?
Cheers
Dave
P.S... Them tiles might add a bit of weight though! |

Side picture as requested, plus the door autographed by Sir Stirling and Norman Dewis. There's only one other person alive now to autograph it and that's Ian Stewart.
I must admit that the thought of trying to put it on trailer is giving me a lot of sleepless nights! The D type I just drive straight on, but this will need a winch and some wooden blocks I reckon. You'll note the battery cover is now on and yes, we did remove the sticker! |

Thanks for the comment there. Thursday next week the first track day at Goodwood (small number of cars so a 105db day) and general steady fettling now looking towards the Le Mans Classic next year. |

Looks amazing!
Forget that tail and the trailer, how are you going to stop those signatures getting rubbed off!
