I'm going to this event on Sunday so keeping my fingers and toes crossed that the weather stays as it has been the last few days.
After winning the SARR Championship last weekend I decided that I really should start preparing for the Champion of Champions, an event I won Best in Class for 2 years ago, so an intensive polishing schedule has been put into action.
Tilly was restored 26 years ago and will be up against cars which are only just out of the paintshop so this will be a tough event.
I thought you might like to see a few pictures of her now that she is ready for Sundays event
I don't do bling bling engine bays as I don't believe cars left the factory with highly polished alloy parts. I do like to see them kept clean and tidy and as original as possible

The car looks amazing. Really looking forward to Sunday and hopefully it stays dry. I will come over and meet you. With a bit of luck we will have 12 marinas on show.
P.S. Where do you get the original wire hose clips from. ??....Larry. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Yes a dry day would be good, I look forward to meeting you
Can't remember if the hose clips were on the car or if I had them lying around. Not sure if you can still get them. _________________ ROVER

Certainly looking good. Especially so given the time since last restored.
Good luck with the event.
Peter.
p.s. Mine was booked in but she's still sitting there waiting for her (hopefully)

Thanks Peter, so you won't be taking the Jaguar but will you be going down in another vehicle? _________________ ROVER

There's not much chance of a 47 Rover looking that clean underneath. oil leaks keep the rust at bay so there is no chance of me cleaning it off
This is about as clean as it gets underneath, which for a 1947 P2 is immaculate

It was nice to meet John for the first time at this event and I can certainly confirm that his Rover looks ever bit as good in the flesh as it does in the pics. (Something I can't say of mine.) He may not have walked off with the Champion of Champions this year but was a very convincing best in class.
Well done!

Likewise Peter it really was good to meet yourself and the others from the forum. Sad not to have won the Champion of Champions trophy for a second time, there again the winner was deserving and it was a lovely car, but a nice surprize to collect the Best in Class which will do nicely for the collection.
I will post up a few rally pictures once I get them sorted but here's one to keep you going

A great day at Thirlestane. Also nice to meet John for the first time.It is a smashing run down the A68 to Lauder, one I always enjoy. There is nothing to beat driving your car to a show. For the life of me I dont understand why some people trailer them. Oh well another cracker of a show next week at Errol. Thats also a nice scenic run. Maybe see some of you there...................Larry. _________________ The Clan Chieftain |
