Has anybody ever tried moulding perspex, my latest project is a 1959 Eccles Avenger according to the old owner the last one to come from the Birmingham factory. One of the lantern light windows is broken and I want to mould a new one. All ideas gratefully received, thanks Steve |

Hi
Might need to talk to an aircraft modeller, they have been known to mould their own bubble cockpits.
They make a female mould of the required form then lay a sheet of the clear plastic over it then heat it from above, I think I read that they use an electric fire (bar type).
What you seem to need to find out is:-
How thick a material can be done and how hot, for how long? _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

Thanks I'm going to have a play with some old perspex. I'll measure the thickness of the original window. I know perspex melting point is 150 so may try a heat gun |
