sorry stupid question..what should my gas mantel look like?

got a mantel from local camping shop,got gas to the light but notsure what the mantel should look like when its on?is it the same as a `normal` gaslight??

What type of mantle did you buy. If it's the same as my mantle it should be pre-formed that has a clay type fitment that you simply push up and twist into place, Steve

I just bought a mantle that they use on a gas lantern..

thanks for that,we`re finally getting somewhere with the van Smile
plugged the electrics in from the car socket and wooohooo
all the lights worked(with some jiggling) Cool

Hello Fellow Cornishman!

If you cant get the correct type of mantle, which you can find on e-bay quite often, just use the modern mantles as per my post

We have used these with great success and with the shade on you cant notice the difference

the lantern has looked like it does in the picture,I`ve never seen a mantle on it,looked on ebay but don`t know what I need?

Hi checked my Nyala and its a number one fitment, sadly I only have number 2 mantles at the moment. If you go here it shows the mantle you need and what it looks like http://www.parafinalia.biz/veritas-universal-fitting-p-275.html Hope this helps

Don't touch it once you have lit it. After the first use, it becomes like brittle ash. It will work great so long as you don't hit it by mistake with the match or similar.
