|
|
From time to time motorcycle and bicycle-related things get added to the main site. I know some forum users only visit the category that interests them, so may miss the main updates thread. From now on, anything new to the main site that relates to old power- and pedal-cycles will also get a mention here.
To kick things off then:
A photo of a chap on his Norton, does anyone know the model?

This is a 1946 model as it has a fuill cradle frame with girder forks. telescopic were fitted from 1947. Pre war frames were of the open diamond type where the front down tube finished at the crankcase.
It could be a model 18 (490cc). _________________ Keep Torqueing,

Here's one for you Rick. It was taken in about 1923 and it's my grandfather and great aunt on a Triumph in front of my great grandfather's model T.
He was a Doctor in Fulborn near Cambridge and they were on a picnic.

Ashley, if the photo is 1923, then certainly the car, and probably the motorcycle are getting a bit long in the tooth. The T would be at least 10 years old by '23. _________________ Dane- roverdriver but not a Viking.

The sidecar racing outfit is a Norton Manx Model 30.
Watsonian were famous for their racing sidecars and sponsored the World Champion, Eric Oliver (Norton Watsonian) whose passenger was Denis Jenkinson. Denis was the navigator to Stirling Moss when they won the 1955 Mille Miglia race in Italy in a Mercedes. _________________ Keep Torqueing,
