I am trying to find some front shockers for my Rover P4, the ones available from a specialist are air adjustable and a bit rich in price for me.

I want something standard. The originals are pin to pin ie threaded bolt mounting at both ends. The dimensions are 10.5 inches closed and 16 inches extended. measured from the body ends. Can anyone suggest a vehicle which may have similar fittings and dimensions. A few years ago I would have gone to my local factors and compared it with his stock. Sadly they only do specific orders for a particular vehicle. I have had some success in obtaining alternative parts to the ones which are vehicle specific to the P4. The savings are quite impressive. For example track rod end rubber boots £8 +vat+postage for 2 for P4 The ones for a Ferguson tractor, which are the same size, 8 for £10 all in, the car requires 6.
