It is a long time since I saw a Smiths Parklite Timer, except for mine. Trouble is it is fully working and I am reluctant to dispose of it, but I cannot find any use for it. It was last fitted to a series 5 Morris Oxford around 1966 and was a boon in the days when street parking required parking lights after lighting up time. To be able to set it and and walk away knowing the lights would come on at the appropriate time was very comforting and must have saved me many flat batteries.

I suppose I could couple it up to a battery, with a bulb as a timer (for what?). Does anyone see any practical use for one now?

Hi

I like that suitcase! Quite fancy an oldy worlde suitcase for taking on my holidays! hehe I have had an eye out in junk shops etc, junk shops that seem to be declining, not many around, well with old junk/treasures in, rather than new very cheap made in china stuff! The ones I know about are all rather expensive!

Cheers

Dave

Rick, you will find it sits in the column cowling of your A60 to the right of the column as if it was made for it! It only needs splicing into the side light wires so that winding it up like an egg timer (with the side light switch "on") will open the circuit until the clicking timer runs out. The numerals are hours - not minutes.

You are welcome to it if you want to play.

Jim.

Rick,

If you want me to copy the 'Timer' instruction leaflet for you, by all means drop me a line and I'll pop it in the post.

Cheers,
Andy

I think I have a few varieties of the parking light, here's the Halfords......
