Hello from Gnotuk in Victoria, Australia, This is my current Riley, shortly after it hit the road after a 6 year rebuild. The original Australian body is still fitted and it appears to me to be inspired by the March Special body offered on Riley 9s in the UK, at the time. I know of at least 4 other surviving Riley nines of 1933 in Australia, which are bodied in a very similar style and apparently by the same body builder.  [/i] |

Colin,
That's a good looking car, congratulations on getting it back on the road.
I'm the archivist of The Riley Motor Club here in the UK. let me know if I can be of any help tracing its history.

Rick, That is the correct radiator shell although it came from another car.
I purchased my Riley as a trailer load of parts, but unfortunately many of the 'hard to get' parts had long since gone. The radiator shell was supplied by a friend, and the radiator started out as a Monaco radiator which I had shortened by 4". Over the 10 years since I bought it, I have found or made most of the missing bits, so now it is pretty authentic to 1933, with the exception of the wheels which are 1934 knock ons instead of the original 6 stud wheels. The car came with the knock on wheels and as I have always liked them, I made this one concession to authenticity. |
