This Press Release arrived recently:
-------------------------------------------
CHOLMONDELEY PAGEANT OF POWER IS BACK FOR SUMMER 2010
Lord Cholmondeley has announced that this year's Cholmondeley Pageant of Power http://www.cpop.co.uk/ will be held over the weekend 17th and 18th July 2010. This will be the third festival at Cholmondeley Castle that blends high-octane action on track, water and air - a celebration of speed, nerve and flair with exceptional design and engineering.
Collections of delectable contemporary and historic racing cars and bikes have been invited to compete on the demanding Cholmondeley Circuit. The classes comprise Le Mans and Grand Prix cars plus aero-engined fire spitters and classic rally cars. The bikes will feature a strong TT pedigree in addition to production superbikes. The public will have the chance to see exceptionally rare and valuable vehicles racing with famous names behind the wheel.
On the water, powerboat action will include the powerful Formula 2 and 4 classes, together with 400cc ISO Seniors and Thundercats as part of the international racing circuit.
In the air, a wealth of helicopters will be joined by the Breitling display team and a host of other stunning aerobatic exhibitions.
The weekend will again include the Fireworks Concert and Military Tattoo on Saturday evening as the military aspects of the Pageant thrilled the crowds last year. As a tribute to HM Armed Forces the event will be proudly supporting Help for Heroes.
Other displays and attractions will include the stunning Concours d'Elegance below the Castle, a colossal car club enclosure, off-roading, children's activities, bars and a burgeoning shopping village.

Latest PR:
---------------------------------
The Cholmondeley Pageant of Power - taking place on 17 & 18th July in the grounds of Cholmondeley Castle in Cheshire - is to be transformed into a theatre of combat for the first time this year giving ticket holders the opportunity to get up close to British armed forces on manoeuvres.
And for the first time this year reservists from all over the North West will be called upon to display their rigorous training techniques creating a unique spectacle for visitors attending the Pageant.
The highlight will be a full combat assault onto a manned defensive position using the latest battle-winning equipment of both the Army and the Royal Air Force. Local TA regiments (including the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry, 103 Regiment Royal Artillery, 75 Engineer Regiment and 4th Battalion The Mercian Regiment) will crew tanks, guns, helicopters and other combat vehicles to form an attack from the land and the air, crossing a river and a minefield on the way.
Not for the faint hearted, this will be a rare chance to watch our troops training for combat. In addition, 208 Field Hospital from Ellesmere Port will set up a field operating theatre to simulate the treatment of battlefield casualties on military operations. There will also be opportunities for youngsters to train with soldiers on an assault course and a climbing wall.
And with the Military Tattoo and Fireworks display on the Saturday evening set against the floodlit backdrop of the Castle, there will be a chance to watch and listen to local military bands, guns and helicopters performing with the magnificent Manchester Camerata Orchestra.

-------------------------------------
THE ARMY JOINS THE FUN AT LIVERPOOL PAGEANT!
"Well it is called the Pageant of Power!" commented Event Organiser James Hall as he revealed that an awesome Challenger 2 Main Battle Tank will be joining the race and rally cars, motorbikes and power boats that will converge on the Strand, Liverpool <http> on the evening of 25 May.
"We've always had strong links with the Army at the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power <http> and thought it would be fun to replicate at least part of that flavour in Liverpool. We will be raising money for the Help For Heroes charity so it all ties in nicely. It certainly will be spectacular to see the Challenger 2 in action on the Strand!"
The Liverpool Pageant will be two and a half hours of frantic, noisy action on land, sea and air starting at 7pm, 25 May when the roads will be closed to normal traffic. Entries will include Le Mans winning Jaguar, Bentley and Maserati cars; a collection of modern supercars from Lamborghini and Ferrari as well as the latest models from Cholmondeley sponsor Bentley. Two wheel heroes Neil Tuxworth and 12 time TT winner Charlie Williams will be on hand with modern and classic racing motorcycles.
"With super racing powerboats and jetskis in the docks plus a squadron of helicopters and the incredible Breitling Wing Walkers in the air this is an evening that Liverpool is unlikely to forget! I guarantee that this will be one of the most spectacular events that even this great city has promoted. I can't wait for the action to start," said Mr Hall.
On the back of the Liverpool Pageant of Power <http> , Liverpool ONE will be running a week-long programme of dynamic events and exciting activities (22 - 29 May).
Attractions for kids and big kids alike, include a climbing wall, inflatable assault course and paintball range on Chavasse Park, as well as flight simulators, Aprilia bikes and F1 virtual driver games which will be located throughout Liverpool ONE. The Ministry of Defence will also be at Liverpool ONE throughout the week raising money for Help for Heroes and hosting displays and demonstrations.
Said Estate Director, Chris Bliss: "The Liverpool Pageant of Power is set to be a thrilling event, the likes of which has not been seen in the city before. It's given us the opportunity to bring a whole programme of new interactive activities to Liverpool ONE which we hope will be enjoyed by families and visitors throughout the whole week."
The Liverpool ONE Pageant of Power runs from 22 - 29 May, with the city-wide event taking place on the evening of 25 May.
The Liverpool Pageant of Power is a preview of the 3rd Cholmondeley Pageant of Power (17 & 18 July 2010), Cholmondeley Castle, Malpas, Cheshire. Seems like the Liverpool PoP the other evening went down well, I'd hoped to get along but with collecting the Minor on the same day, I couldn't get over in time...
------------------------------
LIVERPOOL IS WOWED BY PAGEANT OF POWER
Twenty five thousand spectators descended on Liverpool's famous docklands and Liverpool ONE to catch a glimpse of some of the most expensive and powerful cars and bikes in the world as the city centre closed down for the Liverpool Pageant of Power.
Liverpool transformed into the Monaco of the North as the crowds lined the streets for the free evening event - a curtain raiser for the annual Cholmondeley Pageant of Power in Cheshire, 17-18 July - for two and a half hours of frantic, noisy action on land, sea and air.
Onlookers got the chance to see millions of pounds worth of supercars, such as a Bugatti Veyron, a Ferrari Enzo and a Lamborghini Gallado, reach super-charged speeds as they completed a number of demonstration laps along The Strand. They also felt the ground tremble under their feet as the army demonstrated the awesome manoeuvring power of a Warrior Fighting Vehicle.
Other vehicles to take to the streets included a super-charged JCB "Dancing Digger"; Liverpool FC's very own Super League racing car; the Le Mans winning Bentley Speed 8 and iconic Silk Cut Jaguar; Audi and Ford rally cars; and the latest models from event sponsor Bentley, as well as some of their classics, such as the Blower.
The cars were joined on the track by an incredible collection of bikes, ridden by two true legends -former double Grand Prix winner Stuart Graham and 12 time TT winner Charlie Williams. These two greats turned back the years as they tore the down the street on their bikes,Williams on his Maxton Yamaha TZ385 and Graham on his Yamaha RD05A. The crowd were also treated to a dazzling display of speed and skill from the Honda Superstock bike TT team and the TT's current number one road racer and multiple winner, John McGuinness.
An event in Liverpool would not be complete without a tribute paid to the area's historic docks, as an array of powerboats and catamarans took to the water in Salthouse and Canning Docks, and up above there were breath-taking aerial acrobatics with the Brietling Wing Walkers and a striking Hermes Eurocopter helicopter.
James Hall, Event Director of the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power, said: "The city of Liverpool really embraced the Pageant as they turned out in their thousands to see these wonderful machines perform on land, sea and air. The amount of support that we have had from the City authorities, the public people and businesses in the area has been second to none and this was the perfect curtain raiser to the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power in July."
The Ministry of Defence were also there raising money for Help for Heroes, which is the Pageant's official partner charity, as well as hosting displays and demonstrations. The Liverpool ONE anniversary celebrations will be running from 22 - 29 May.

Went today - best show I've been to in years. Plenty of action, some of the best cars in the world. I walked round the paddock open mouthed at the Auto Union GP racer, Baby Bertha, The Other Gun, Mavis, that Audi 80 racer and dozens of others - get there tomorrow if you can.

£15 entry to the park + £10 to get into the paddock (well worth it) but take your own refreshments, it's the only place I've been to where a coffee costs more than a glass of champagne! |
