LAst week it was full of activities for classic car enthusiasts in Malta (and those who can afford to take some days off work)
There were many runs to various locations on the island and even to Gozo our sister island and on Friday a concourse d elegance was held at Valletta as well (which I didnt have the time to attend)
However the highlight of the week was the races at the valletta ring road on the outskirts during the weekend, on saturday there were practice runs and various other driving skills like drifting and various hillclimb cars making a show for the spactators plus static displays scattered all over the place from the various clubs (our mini club included).
However on saturday I preferred to stay at the garage and finally managed to fix the brakes on the mini but thats another story.
However on sunday I made a point to attend even if only for a couple of hours.
At 9.15 picked up a friend (the one with the pintod anglebox and mk 1 escort) and drove to the venue in my daily.
We parked close to this very nice benz;
We proceded to the starting grid though it was scheduled to start at 9.00am, they were already running late so in the meantime we went to see some of the cars that were on a static display (not the ones going to race though)
as we entered the area of the static display this is what greeted us;
then got busy taking pics and looking around
Looks like hunters are getting more popular over here, just in time for mine to hit the road again
Did not manage to take a photo of all the cars present as at around quarter past ten a distinctive roar was heard and these came past;
They were lining up on the grid lines ready for the action.
And then the action started;
This cosworth was going around the track at some fair knots and the driver was really good and made a good show for the public;
More pics to come later on today |

Ok managed to upload the rest so here they come;
The safety car accompanying the new class from the paddock to the gridline;
This morgan was very entertaining to watch, always going sideways on this very bend but at one time he lost it completely, luckily there were no cars behind him
Am afraid thats all though, wish I had stayed more to see the other races but it clashed with mother's day so had to merge both to make most of the day. |

I had completely forgotten the best shot of the day;
hopeless during the races and was obviously lapped more than once but was the biggest hit with the public and he got loads of applause at the end of the race!!! |

The A35 is an ex-UK car by the looks of it? _________________ Richard Hughes |
