Best way to buy them when most of work has been done and any niggles ironed out/

I'm slowly learning that Wink (although I still like finding old wrecks too Laughing )

I would trust a bit of bamboo more than these old fuel gauges. I have a callibrated stick for the Talbot.

The show in Nantwich yesterday was the Morris' first event, accompanied by Compo the Companion.

Ready for the off.

On arrival, we were quite early and the field soon filled up.

Pottered out to take a look at an original Austin 16/6 stored away in a barn. Decided to go in the MM as the sun was out, only to find that the keys have disappeared Mad In the end, removing the outer handle and using a T key got me inside, while the "key" from the tourer got it fired up ok.

Nice run out, cracking weather, I just need to find the keys now .. hmmm .........

As the weather was shaping up nicely on Friday, I gave the Minor a run out to the Dodge via the back lanes. It was a little overcast en route over there, when I took these photos, but by 10am the blue skies had arrived.

On Thursday evening we (buzzy and I) took the Minor out on a local VSCC evening run out, congregating at a watering hole approx 20 miles from here.

A jolly time was had, and the Minor went well. Some photos taken at the destination point...

Little 'un had his first ride out in a pre-war car today to the local post office, it seems to have met with his approval Smile

Lovely photos Rick, both your car & the others! I greatly look forward to the day when my project is at a point where I can take it for a run!

Glad you like them. I like fettling things but the best bit of old-car ownership - for me - is actually driving them.

Bit of a low point in the MM ownership occurred the other day. While attempting a modest hill start, there was a click at the back and all drive was lost. I assumed a driveshaft had sheared.

However today I jacked it up and withdrew both shafts - they look ok. The n/s shaft spins the prop ok, the o/s does nothing so I assume something inside the diff has broken up?? The shaft doesn't feel like it's engaging in anything inside the casing. There were some small bits of metal on the end of the o/s shaft, so my guess is that something terminal has happened to the diff Sad

Hi Rick,

I'm sorry to hear of your diff failure. On the bright side at least it sounds as if your crown wheel and pinion are OK. The fact that it just went click sounds better than more dramatic noises. I wonder if the splines in the O/S diff cog have progressively detached and you've just snapped off the last one?

Hi Rick

Know how you feel having recently been stranded with the Stag and no drive!

I dont know if your MM diff is the same as the later 8's? if so I have a box of diff bits that may be use.....also the early 8's had an aluminium diff casing, later ones it was steel, there has long been a recomendation in 8 circles to fit the steel case diffs for better reliability ,not sure if the diff case or innards were the unreliable bits!

Cheers

Dave

Dave, so far my diff is OK. Is it an all steel diff that is more reliable or does it have just the front part that is alloy?
