Can anyone help with this query from Canada???

---------------------------------
As i need to install a new ignition / light switch, thought i'd pose a question / issue in hopes you might offer advice.

Having issues with some of the knobs. 2 are locked in place with pins - had no issues getting those off... but having a hell of a time with the choke and the actual starter.... both knobs seem grafted to their posts.

On the reverse side of the dash (which i was able to get to by laying on the floor of the car) - I was able to loosen the locking nuts for those knobs on the rear side - thinking that maybe once loose the whole assembly might slide through - it would appear i am wrong in this assumption. maybe i'm missing something here. The service manuals i have are robust where the engine is concerned, but sadly lacking any details with respect to removing fixtures in the vehicle.

Dont know if you know anything about these cars - in the event you dont, maybe you know someone who does... but some advice would be grand if you've a moment to spare and insight to offer.

cheers from Canada

Knobs attached to cables such as the choke and starter are moulded on to the brass shank and you won't shift them. All you can do is detach them at their extremity and remove the whole inner cable.
Or, in your case, as you require removal of the panel, unscrew the retaining large nut and remove the cable in its entirity.
