i have an odd indicator at the problem. when i signal right the indicators flash really quickly (so quickly that the tell tale doesnt even light up), both right hand bulbs work. The weird thing is that if the steering wheel is pulled out a bit (there is slight vertical movement) the problem goes away....

whats going on?

cheers Smile

Something drastic. The current is passing to earth with not much impedence. Get it checked out right away; disaster looms (forgive the pun).

cheers for the reply. i am guessing it must be something in the stalks because of the wheel causing it?

You shouldnt need to take the wheel off for your indicator problem but while the cowlings off try and find out why your column has so much play in it.

Hi
If the column is a rigid one (ie not adjustable for length) then any movement along the column axis can only be at the ends.

Top end, movement on the splines, oir bottom end could be excess float in the box or R&P; or the box/R&P is not fixed down securely.

I have just had a look at steering column and there is no vertical movement and I have about 1mm in and out movement. The steering shaft goes into the fixed outer at the indicator stick so there should be no chance of the wires chafing here. I can only think that a wire is caught in the upper mount and a fault like this should be sorted ASAP.

Get your Midget out and drive it, OK fix it first, my Midget has done 10,000 miles in the last year and it is driving just great. I slide into the seat, slip on the shades, nudge it into 1st and smile. Cool
