That was Canley Classics Mike.
For anyone who does not know they may be the UKs biggest suppliers of new and re-manufactured Triumph car parts. And also into performance conversions and competition too.
I think they may well know more than any of us.

hehehe, good one Jim, so do you keep one just in case too?! 
Oh and as I said I do not do any high mileage and have already tried unleaded in the tank and it worked fine so no need to retard the ignition either although I had leaded in the tank still so obviously they have mixed!! |

I'm beginning to wish I had not started this! Especially as I had a Vasectomy about 40 years ago!
Still, I suppose "safe sex" is another reason for condoms.

I'm totally convinced that if you put one of these in your tank then you will have no problem using unleaded petrol.

p.s. Having said that, I'm also convinced that if instead you put it in your glove compartment you will also suffer no problems.

Have you noticed we never get anyone telling us of the problems they have EXPERIENCED with unleaded? Only people re-iterating the scare-mongers. Maybe now we'll get "My brothers best friend's sister' cousin's uncle said he was apalled that his valves recessed at 150,00 miles" on unleaded!

When I bought my 1.5 the previous owner told me he'd put some of those pellets in the tank "so it'll run OK on unleaded..." Then he handed me a half-full bottle of additive and a piece of paper which had the doseage written on it.
That was over three years ago, the bottle is still half full, I've lost the piece of paper but the valves haven't hammered themselves to oblivion - maybe there's something in those pellets after all...... |

.... it has the same effect!
......and they do last!   |

I would hope those pellets don't last for years. I don't know how big (or small) they are, but they sound like a potential petrol blockage if they get in the fuel line. As for pebbles? They might rattle!
Safer to put nothing but petrol in the tank.Or perhaps Redex if you lean that way.

Here's our latest fuel 'crisis' in the US - http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2010/10/19/a-fuelish-desire-for-straight-gas/?refer=news
'Cheap & Nasty' grade gas-oleum is currently around 50p a litre.
& if you insist on using those 'pellets', remember that they should be put in your tank about 30 minutes before use, for the best effect.
& please, no jokes about lead in your pencil.
