just spent two days removing 82 year old screws from my praga alfa and wanted to pass on this tip.
it's not mine and i hope i did not read it in this forum!! but somewhere i read that when removing wood screws from old wooden frames the screw can be heated up with a soldering iron and comes out quite easily.
i can certainly recommend this method as after being unsuccessful with other methods i tried this method and it worked extremely well.
in total the doors alone had over eighty screws stuck well in after more than 82 years in place!
apologies if this tip is from the forum, i just read so many tips etc, but it is meant only as a recommendation of the method,
Yes it does work well and its good to to pass this simple tip onto others - its an old carpetnters tip apparently but same process but with Oxy A is infallible with steel nuts/bolts which seized _________________ Phil

Good tip, I had heard of it before, but usually patience pays off for me. (and a screwdriver of suitable size!)
Take care with brass woodscrews, if the brass has started to lose some of the zinc, they can become very brittle - especially if they have been overtightened or put in at an odd angle! (something boat restorers know only too well.....) _________________ Saluton. mi estas fervojistino, kaj vi?
