Bedford O Series Mobile Shop.

This black and white photo, sent by Peter, shows his father's Bedford OB bus/mobile shop conversion, around 1960.

Bedford lorry
From the earliest days of road transport, and into the 1970s, you'd see mobile shops driving around the leafier (ie remote) areas of Britain.
Increased ownership of private cars in the 60s and 70s tended to see off many mobile shops like this. Peter's father ran the Bedford lorry shown above, which looks like it may have started out as a coach or bus (perhaps a Bedford OB?). The destination board would have been displayed above the windscreens when in use as a passenger-carrying vehicle.
You do still see mobile libraries rumbling around, but I bet even they are disappearing slowly but surely from our roads.

1930s Bedford WS Mobile Shop

Mention of the O Series above reminded me of a great old Bedford WS shop that a friend of mine had a little while back. It was still in the colours of its original operator I believe, although I don't know if this is still the case today.
