1963 1200 Fiat Cabriolet

1963 FIAT
Ib Rasmussen got in touch, sending me a photo and some of the history about his cracking little FIAT convertible...

"I have had a look on your site, but I think you need an Italian car to show at the site.

My car is a Fiat 1200 cabriolet 1963, I also have NSU Prinz 4 1964 - and NSU Sports Prinz 1961, Jalta 3a3 1962, Ford Anglia 101 1958, Ford Taunus Transit pick-up 1964, Toyota Crown 1964, Vauxhall Cadet 1933. and a Jowett Javelin 1951.

The car in the photo is a Fiat 1200 cabriolet from 1963, 1221cc ohv 4 cyl with 58bhp @ 5,300 rpm.

Designed by Pininfarina. 4 speed and weight 905 kg

This car is one of 400 from a little Italian coachbuilder Vetture Speciali.

I am owner no3, it has covered 121,000km. I got it in exchange for my Jowett Jupiter in 2001, the car has only been painted outside, and a new hood fitted.

In the summer it did the Viking rally, 2300km from Gothenburg in Sweden over Norway to England, and meet the Jowett Car club in Castle Howard in York, then down to the ferry in Harwich and back to Denmark. "
Thanks for that Ib - very interesting.
