Lots of smoke out of the back, grease on the windscreen.

I feared the worst.

Now it's sat in the garage bleeding autotransmission fluid from the front oil cooler area. Well whats left of the fluid that isn't coating the engine bay.

Looks like a split hose or cooler.

At least it's not the engine.

And it got me home, never left me stranded yet.

Didn't know what it was when it happen, everything working fine gauges OK.

I was about 1.5mls from home so limped in.

It was still loosing fluid when I got on the drive, by then gear selection was a bit clunky.

As it didn't dump it I'm hoping a new hose (on order from Lotusbits) and some fluid will put everything right.

Cleaned up engine bay last night.

It's 10pm on Tuesday night and it's done.

Only had to put 3.5l of fluid in when the manual states 8l capacity.
So it's not run dry or hot so I'm not expecting any long term harm.

As I'm on call from 1pm tomorrow for 7 days I'm now going to visit the Glen of Tranquility for an hour or two.

One happy Excel owner again.
