I missed your post showing the Speedking tin - very nice!!!

We were out shopping yesterday, and spotted this toffees tin in the new Christmas goodies section - quite a smart tin in the shape of an old van, with a small clasp keeping the two halves together.

Seems to be the season for new tin launches, this fine (and quite large) biscuit tin was found at M&S t'other day

Would look even better if 'aged' a little, kicked around the garden, scuffed, buried for 5 years, left in the sun etc etc Smile

Interesting!

MS 1884 - issued in Stirlingshire.

I should have been Hartlepool where (St.) Michael Marks (MM = Middlesex) started Marks Penny Bazaar. (MPB = Surrey). Technically, Thomas Spencer (TS = Dundee) didn't join until 1894.

Crew of three? Two with their noses glued to the windscreen to see where the dim PL700's are taking them & one relaxing - apparently with a spare steering wheel?

Happy Boxing Day!

Mike

Coincidentally I also received the biscuits tin with the truck on it - Ford Model TT?
http://www.oldclassiccar.co.uk/ford-modeltt.htm

and .. also a bar of Classic Wheels choccy, albeit not the lorry one but with a 50s GP car on it Cool Just need to work out opening of said bar, without destroying the wrapper .. shouldn't be too tricky Smile

The Sainsbury's truck is indeed a TT Ford. Probably 1926 or 1927. It has demountable rims.

I would like to know what vehicle is represented by the prime mover on the Belgian Chocolate artwork. Looks decidedly Yank to me. Could it be a Diamond T or perhaps a White?

Just to update the thread, here's a tin I found recently for Rington's tea.

I've seen these on a certain auction site once or twice, but have always been outbid. I think they're collected as, unlike most tins like this, it's based on a real vehicle, namely the 5cwt Fordson E494C van.

Hi
They will be collected by 3 different types of collector.
Tin collectors, vehcile ephemera collectors and Ringtons collectors.
Ringtons have done many kinds of vehicle collectable including pot Escort money boxes, M Minor van money boxes, various 1:43 model vehicles.
