This is a "1976 Paykan". Paykans on ancient Persians were part of our lives. But now rapidly decreased.
Hope to keep this car to prevent their destruction.

I love this pale form of my car and I decided to keep this car in the same condition. But pale Form
But these paleStyle, could be dangerous in the future.
So one year after buying the car, I decided to rebuild the car.

Welcome to the forum Saeid,
It's interesting to see an Iranian "Rootes" car.
Is the engine also Rootes Group or of other manufacture?

Hi Peter.
Yes, the old Paykans before 1980 had rootes 1725cc and 1500cc.
but 1500cc just equipped on 1967 & 1968 Paykans.
Of course, some of old Paykans (KAR edition) are equipped with 1600cc Hillman Avenger. *("KAR edition" means job or work edition, a car for jobs and work!)
Also, electric parts equipped with “Lucas” of england.
------------------------------------
in 90' paykans equipped with 504 Peugeot engine for 2-3 years!
----------------------------------------
But last edition of Paykans, equipped with Iranian Parts and Iranian engine (1600cc engine based on Hillman Avenger engine).
-------------------------------------
in last years, iranian engines(based of hillman avenger) of Paykans Equipped with the injection fuel system.
---------------------------------------
It is interesting that all these engines are well consistent with Paykans.
but
Only Peugeot engine due to the extra weight, have a few conflict with Paykans chassis.
-----------------------------
First day of buying my car:
(engine is dirty, sorry)

Hi Saeid,
Thanks for posting your engine photo. Is it possible to tell whether 1500 or 1725 from the body markings on the outside of the car?

Hi Bob,
In the UK, if my memory serves me correctly, the "Hunter" with the 1500 engine was badged as a Minx.

hi peter.
1967 and 1968 Paykans (equipped with 1500cc) are inheritted from HillmanMinx and SingerGazelle and SingerVouge.
Like this pictures:
Unfortunately, just a few 1967 and 68 exist in iran and THE REST ARE GONE

Arrow was the Rootes name for that entire range of cars.

Hi Peter, its true the first models were badged as minx but then with the arrival of the mark 2 the minx name was dropped and the 1500 version was badged as the hunter deluxe!
Saeid, your hunter has lovely patina, I'd be tempted to leave it as is! |

Ute is an Australian term (a contraction of Utility).
Usually referred to as a pick-up in the UK.
Here's a home made one..
