Finally found some time to crack on with cleaning up the underside....
this proved a very messy smelly job using a wire brush wheel on an angle
grinder, so I gave up on that idea, brushed on a little standard thinners and
scraped the old underseal off with an old chisel.....

looks like you are doing a good job of it,does the air vent channel take in fresh air to cool or hot air out to heat and do they send it up the chassis leg? |

Hi Canner,
Yes air is forced in the front of the truck through the chassis channels and this then cools the engine,
as it exits the engine it is heated more by the exhaust manifolds and is then channeled through tinware
and pipes back to the cab where you can choose to use it to heat the cab....
and not an ECU in sight thank goodness |

Good job Steve all looks pretty solid underneath.
I assume you are going to recoat after any rust proofing etc required. I can't recommend enough that anti-chip I have been using. Easy to apply and good cover and a lovely rubberised finish. Tony |

Is the air intake those two grills under the numberplate? |

Hi Tony,
Yes that's the air intake the two little grills in the lower front valence...
I may well use your stonechip rubberised paint in some parts, but most
of the underneath I shall use waxoyl shutz from a 1L tin applied via shutz
gun ~ mainly because that's what I have left over from restoring my D4B.
Pics will follow when I do it
Cheers Steve |

That's looking very nice. At least Mrs. D4B doesn't have to worry about the driveway...the drips should match.
I like that idea with the heat through the chassis. Does that keep the frame in good order. In the Fiat the heat's through a central tunnel with all the wires and cables and that part certainly never seems to rust. |

Rick: when I take the mattress to the local recycling centre I will be
sure to take along a photo of the TN7 sleeping on it, as a picture says
a thousand words......
Peter, yes I think you are porobably right, the heat must preserve the
metal because the chassis is one of the few bits I have not had to weld up!

Looks like you are making good progress as well. Those bearings are different!
