What a lovely little truck, I've got a soft spot for Ford commercials as my Grandfather had a 47 Fordson 7V for his peat and log business many years back.

Any updates on this one?

Thanks Rootes75, Yes it is a great truck, I love the Ford commercials as well. I'm dying to get on with this one, up to now, I've just been sorting out mechanicals and getting parts together before I strip it down.

I've got a few projects on the go but I still keep nibbling away at this one.

The 7v is a great looking truck as well, do you have any photo's of your grandfathers?

Time flies when you have too many projects, I was going to start the restoration on the E88w pictured earlier in this thread but I got sidetracked by two more E88W's at John Mould's Paradise Collection sale in Reading a few years back. Needless to say, I had to have them.

The red one (1936) pictured here at the sale, though it looks in quite good condition turned out to be a bit of colander after I had the cab Soda Blasted. Somebody somewhere spent a fortune on Body filler!

For this reason because it was the worst one of the bunch, I decided it needed saving first. A lot of the fabrication that had been done (Badly) was was either brazed patches or filled with body solder so all that had to go.

After miles and miles of MIG and TIG welding and metalwork it is starting to look something like a truck again so I thought I'd share it. The chassis strangely enough was very solid and after being blasted, painted and refurbished looks great.

This one seems to have fought me every step of the way, nothing wanted to fit but after a few hate moments and too many hours, it is starting to come together and I am just starting to like it again. I'll post some pictures of the long hard progress soon ...

The first job was to sort out the engine and I couldn't use this head...

It had obviously been left out without anti-freeze. I managed to get a nice head via a friend from the south coast, luckily the block was fine. The bores and pistons were lovely so I renewed the valve springs, cut the valves, renewed the timing gear and ended off with a sound engine. I drove it round the garden a few times then started stripping the whole lot down.

Good stuff, is the engine the same as used in cars of the same era?

Yes Rick, it's the 24 HP (4" Bore) Model B engine as opposed to the British version which I believe was 14.9 HP (3" Bore) to fit the tax bands of the day.

The strip down begins

The chassis had been painted... badly, it was red with black over the top which was flaking off everywhere. Off to the blasters to do the job properly

You have a very nice fleet there, and some nice sheds to store them in!
