The award for the biggest pillock on ebay goes to a guy going by the ebay name of 'upoting'.

Having pinched my Austin Somerset off other serious bidders at the very last minute he then asks me can I hold it for him until weekend collection, that was now two weekends ago.

He knows that I am moving house on Weds next and the car must be cleared by then or I'll be forced to scrap it, he's left it too late for me to re-advertise it.

Yesterday he turned up with a gobby know it all/know F**k all mate "Oh yes they made Somersets until 1966 but I had a Standard Vanguard brand new in 1965 etc."

They decided they had the wrong towing equipment and drove away 'to get it' and that was the last I saw of them!

If you know this guy keep watching, as things are going to get 'interesting' for him soon, if you are about to deal with him on ebay - Be Warned!

I'm time pressured Rick, gotta be out of here by Weds/Thurs latest and despite hundreds of 'interested' parties only the scrapman can be counted on to turn up reliably and remove it.

I wouldn't mind but I filled the boot with loads of bits and bobs for it, plus a spare engine and gearbox, and even threw in a brand new 2 tonne trolley jack!

I'll try ebay again with a 'buy it now and move it at the weekend' offer but failing that the world loses a Somerset I'm afraid, I'm fed up of being fuc**d about! Evil or Very Mad

it's a pity there's no one available to store it for you temporarily. i've been "storing" a BMW 2002 with a mate in Virginia for about 12 years now... don't think i'll ever actually get it back. shame on me. that's what happens when moving time comes and there's only one trailer available.

This is England 62rebel, every square inch of space is filled twice over.

The indigenous inhabitants are struggling for places to live (case in point - me!) as the housing stock has been massively depleted by short sighted government policies, under those circumstances the welfare of an old vehicle, even ones so dear to me as these are pales into insignificance.

This Country, this place is full - teeming, our infrastructures are stretched, crumbling, our way of life and our very existence are under threat... and STILL they flood in!

Where are the 'bigwigs' proposing to put us all?...answers on a postcard please to Tony Blair (retired but still your fault - Bas**rd!) Evil or Very Mad

Hi ON,

I would reckon you'll be giving him a s**t feedback rating then - what a tosser! Evil or Very Mad

What is it with these f-wits that think its acceptable to mess people around like this. I'd be tempted to set up a "ghost" eBay account just to go looking for anything he's selling and do the same to him.

It's been a funny kind of day.

Firstly, having chased the guy that bought the car for over two weeks, and being in turn evaded/ignored/treated to all his excuses I finally decided that as time was short I'd simply sell it to someone else.

The original yet elusive buyer had been to see the car on Thursday and was well aware of my need to have it shifted pronto, he promised to be back on Friday to take it away. (two weeks after winning it remember)
Friday came and went and despite umpteen phone calls from myself, his family maintained that he was 'out'.

I rang him again rather late and caught him apparently un-awares judging by the number of excuses given for not turning up, but he assured me he would be there to pick it up by around lunchtime today.

At lunchtime, and no sign of him I relisted the car at a bargain price just to shift it and it sold within half an hour or so for the £300 asked, the buyer rang to confirm he would pick it up this evening. As I put the 'phone down it rang again immediately, it was the original buyer saying that he was on his way to pick up the Austin!

My feelings on this is that he was going to mess me around until the last moment on the day I moved and then offer to remove it for next to nothing price-wise, but on seeing it had been re-auctioned and sold he felt that he was losing out.

Now here's the funny bit; the original buyer won the car for £540 on ebay, the second buyer won it for the £300 pounds I had listed it for only this morning, yet when the original buyer turned up he counted out £300 and handed it to me!...not that he had seen or been prompted my second advert or anything!

I took the £300, pocketed it and told him to now keep on counting it out until the full balance was paid, but thinking it was now for sale at £300 he hadn't brought enough with him!
I have ended up with £400 'deposit' from buyer one (all he had on him) with lunchtime tomorrow as the deadline for picking it up after which I'll consider the deposit forfeit and sell the car directly to buyer two.

I then had the unpleasant task of informing buyer two of the days events but luckily he was a decent lad, and although disappointed he took it well.

So, tomorrow morning I shall be awaiting buyer one with interest, come midday if he hasn't shown up the car will be sold to buyer two. I have no doubt that buyer one will be aggrieved about that but come Wednesday I will have a new address and phone number etc. Laughing

For me the moral of this story is:

Treat people like - for- like, nothing feels as good as payback, and if someone is never 'home' to answer your phone-calls try again at 3 in the morning - I usually find they're home then! Twisted Evil

Oh! and finally I would have offered the car free to an enthusiast first before i'd scrap it, but in the end you are often reliant on whether people can store/collect/etc to a tight deadline, if not, and with an unforgiving landlord it would have become a casualty I'm afraid.
