Following on from posting the Singer Service sign in Kev's Vogue thread, it got me wondering what interesting old signs fellow forum-ers might have?

Do you have any neat old enamel, tin, or cardboard advertising signs?

I've a few light up signs

The Vauxhall sign came as just a plastic shield so some intuitive intervention was required

and a few metal paper and cloth ones also

Is there no-one else with old enamel or tin signs in their collection?

I've a few odd signs, nothing particularly special mind, I think given the prices of many signs nowadays, that particular collecting ship has long since sailed for me (perhaps it's not a bad thing!!)

Here are the few I have.

This Rootes sign I bought in Antwerp in the late eighties, when they still could be found at reasonable money. I think I paid around 40 pounds. It is an outdoor French garage sign, enamel on heavy steel, both sides the same. Late fifties I guess. I have never seen something similar again.

This Castrol sign is a double sided, plastic with a lamp inside. Strong round steel frame. I got it from a friend. Sorry for the bad pic behind the garage heater etc!

This Michelin sign I got at a French garage where I was stuck (caravan with a flat tyre). Again enamel on heavy steel, both sides.

At the same garage I took a couple of mid seventies Michelin signs. Thin steel this time.

Thinking about my Rootes sign, it probably is from before 1956 when Rootes took over Singer.

I am tempted to show a photo or two or my garage, an awful lot busier than the pristine ones above, shall we have a new topic, 'who has the busiest garage, and still manages to work in it?'

Very clean and tidy workshops...not like mine...

I have a couple old signs, the largest being an old Clevelend Petrol sign.

I very much like the Rootes sign, wouldn't mind finding one of them over here.

Smile there are one or two older threads lurking, featuring several members' sheds, workshops, garages etc, they probably want resurrecting...

I did used to have a very large double sided Fina enamel sign in very good condition. One of the many bits sold over the years to fund restorations!

Hi
I have no idea where this is, I just found the picture amongst a whole pile of old photos.
I thought it might please the Pump afficionados.

Great spot Kev.

It reminds me of a place over near Macclesfield(ish), Jackson's maybe. Was it over that way?

not a sign but an old original showroom poster which I bought and received today. Very pleased with it! Size 100 x 75 cm. Will be framed and hung in the garage.

Does anyone have a picture of a RedeX garage sign for my research?
