Hi, It is with great sadness, that I have to share the news that we have to scrap our lovely 1954 Hillman Minx Californian!!!
She was in to have all the welding rectified!!
Where apon it was noticed that the car was leaning to one side just a wee bit!
Conclusion.... There is a slight twist in the frame, (Which is why the doors were not shutting properly)! 90% striped, original engine and gearbox removed ready for resto.
some bits needed, no V5 and original plate is sadly lost!
It could be corrected, but we are unable to fund this!
It is a crying shame and we are very heartbroken.
Lottie is 1 of only 2 left in the UK. What an end to a rare car!
Anyone interested in taking her on? Or buying her for spares?
£1.200- To be collected by trailer, Whitburn Scotland.
Tel Dave, 0794 3214383.
email raysflag@aol.com
Thanks.

At college we had to measure vehicles dimensions with nothing more than a tape measure, plumb lines, chalk and string, and then had to determine if and where a vehicle was distorted, it's something I have done since with any old crock aquired, and they have all been out a bit!
A "slight" twist as you describe it, can be rectified in the home workshop with the combination of a bit of logic and some brute force, or for not a lot of money you could get the car professionally pulled on a jig , certainly the cost would be a fraction of what you are asking for the car.
Every restoration involves spending a bit more on one stage or component than planned, so I'd bite the bullet and carry on
