I have just picked myself up from the floor after laughing so much.
Eccles Dominant caravan ( totally ruined ) at £12,995....are these people on the same planet as us other fellow classic caravan enthusiasts.
We are talking proper pre -war vintage caravan money here.
Not some tarted up 1950`s economy caravan.

Totally agree, will be a peeling mouldy mess in the winter. A right con job, you could get a Coventry Knight for that money!!! _________________ I can resist anything except temptation ! ( Oscar Wilde)

HI GANG
the current vouge to transform classic and vintage caravans into kath kidson /glamping its the style of the day and no manufacturer has cottoned onto it yet
atleast if done correctly, lets people have the use of and cherrish the conversions, and the vans will be around in years to come, people will look back with fondness saying i had one like that
the high prices that are paid usualy twice the price of an original model
pushes up the price of our own classics
i have in the past sold 2 perfctly usable caravans for around £1000 only to see them kk,ed and resold for £4500
so we have to suck it and see if its a fad,or a movement that will sweep us away like the dinosaurs

Royale caravan club
and we acept these vans in our club |

|
|
| Hi . I come on here and read comments quite often , but rarely take part . I decided early on when I retired that I needed eight days a week to be fully retired . I have so many interests , and am in the process of joining a detecting club . as if I had the time!I too am appalled at the state of many of these Kath Kidson destroyed 'vans . The latest one on ebay apart from having a laughable price tag , in my opinion is an affront to restoration and any body who loves old 'vans. If they are not too far away , I like to look at these examples of the art of restoration . I saw seven last year , and only one had had any remedial repair. Having had an enthusiastic idiot describe his work , I can only hope that caravan m.o.t.s become compulsory a.s.a.p! No amount of garish wallpaper , paint and painted bunting can remove the smell of damp ,and in one case , mice. Whilst all this destruction is going on I am trying to decide if I should restore my Wessex to its original spec or try to work round the aluminium cladding that was put on , possibly half a century ago . Or paint mushrooms and pixies on it with flowered bunting on the roof! |

Maybe there's a middle ground approach with these things?
To my eyes a lot of the cheaper 60s and 70s caravans were pretty dull things at the best of times, so a little creativity inside might not always be a bad thing. Elements of this Eccles' interior I don't mind too much, the overall effect inside is a bit OTT for me (note I'm not commenting on the quality of the "conversion" mind), the exterior colour is way OTT, and the price a joke. All IMO of course
