It's not motoring related, but is quite charming and sums up the post-war era of holiday camps etc.
Where the train ride was located I don't know, but it seemed like a shame just to leave the pic in an album and not put it somewhere online. Perhaps the wave patterns, set into the wall of the building in the background, might help id the location?
The legend in the background reads: "ABC ??????? POPULAR CRUISES".
A closer look at the "loco":
I wonder where the kids are now?

The engine looks too small for Butlins. Their railways were next to a playground or near a boating pond. Pontins maybe.? _________________ The Clan Chieftain |

Lovely period photo.
The ride looks like one made by 'Supercar' these could be found, as stated above, at Holiday Camps and also Amusement Parks such as Battersea, Dreamland in Margate and other Seaside resorts. The picture doesn't look familiar though, hopefully someone else may recognise the location. |

Hi
I found some similar "trains".
http://cdm15847.contentdm.oclc.org/cdm/singleitem/collection/p15847coll3/id/19946/rec/6
These were at Bellvue Manchester.
I have also found that there was a Peter Pan railway running close by the "Tuck Shop" at Battersea Festival of Britain Gardens and that ABC was one of the catering concessions at Battersea.
Haven't so far found a definite picture of the latter two items. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

The same design was in use at South Shields in August 1950. Another image reveals one train named "Aladdin", which may be a clue to other names.
From what images I could find, there wasn't one that featured an elevated section as in Ricks photo.
Ray's photo shows one of these trains with the rubber "buffers", which may have been a modification to absorb shock.
No lead, as yet on the "cruises" or ABC that features in Rick's photo. |

Hi Rick
Just a thought could "cruises" actually be "cuisines"?
The counter features remind me of food/confectionery outlets
I'm moving more towards 1951 Battersea Festival of Britain

The Peter Pan miniature train rides were made by the "Supercar" company of Coventry. Production started in 1949. Butlins at Clacton had them, as did the pleasure beach at South Shields and Battersea after the Festival.
Company ownership changed over the years.
The Billboard - a weekly newsletter of the amusement industry of April 9th, 1955 shows that Supercar Coventry) Ltd., Gunnery Terrace, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, manufactured:-
Kiddie Electric Speedway, Peter Pan Engine, Tug Boat, Dodgem Cars and Speedway Cars.
Peter Pan Railways, later known as Santa Fe Railways, manufactured by Supercar Company Ltd and were known as Peter Pan Railways. ... The company was established by a Mr J Burrows in Coventry in 1934.

The secret of Rick's photo lies with the ABC, cruises, cuisine ?? |

Hi
Peterwpg has pm'd me with the following
Hello. Look at this at 04:05
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4OVwWkw9qTc
Having looked at all the sites I could find of P.P railways at various amusement parks, the Festival is still favourite, and it looks like the word "London" below ABC on the photo here on OCC and on the other site you posted it on.
The P.P railway is clearly marked on maps of the Festival.
The little engines are definitely running through a copse of trees so I think ricks pic is now ID'd as Battersea F of B. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.
