Yep I've just been taking a look, thanks Mike. It's due to pass fairly close by to us on Saturday, so I'll check the timings nearer to the day and might head out to a clear space somewhere, to await its (hopeful) flight past.

I sent back my raffle tickets but more in sorrow than the hope of winning. I've only seen her fly once and that was at the Revival. A moment never to be forgotten as the after burners came on, the exhaust turned cherry red, conversation stopped and jaws dropped. So sad that she will be no more, but it is still amazing that she flew again at all, giving so many of so much pleasure. My hat is doffed to all involved.

The VTTS web page said that timings would be released on Friday, I was pointed to this site that seems to have some more information somehow:

http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/vulcan-xh558-farewell-tour-greater-10214680

Obviously loads of TBC going on, but check the Vulcan site on Friday. I'm looking for somewhere to get some photos.

We are booked in to watch a show in the winter gardens tonight, arrived early and whilst having a stroll on the beach (Blackpool) the Vulcan flew over! Wasn't expecting it but what a fantastic sight.

I went for a walk alongside the canal on Saturday afternoon, by the time the plane came over there must have been about thirty people there, not bad considering the location.

I hung around at the bottom of the garden for a while Saturday pm (I've been offline at home since Friday midday so wasn't 100% sure of the times), and spotted it flying by at a decent rate of knots.

I thought the timings thing was a bit poorly handled, though I guess they must have had a reason for it. They didn't announce the take-off time until Saturday morning, and there was a lot of negative stuff on Facebook and so on from people who were making a long trip to see it. That's one of the reasons I stayed local. My internet chose this weekend to be really poor as well, so I was just going on the Manchester Evening News thing that suggested 3pm.

Some nice, albeit brief, footage of the Red Arrows flying in formation with the Vulcan in the BBC "Inside the RAF" programme from last Sunday evening.

Hi
Interesting in that if she took off upwind she then landed downwind.
So windspeed must have been quite low.

Wouldn't it be neat if this old girl could be dragged out of retirement - I wonder what the hours are like on surviving Victors?

Of course the real difficulty would be getting sign-off from the usual parties, and a few £mil together to get things moving.

Hi
Here is the film of the last official flights and also the "accidental" one, that's a buttock clenching one.

or in this case Roll.

So what they going to do ? Ground the plane ?

It landed safely, will very likely never fly again, so come on you "jobs worths" let it go, leave it alone and move on.

...and, if I had been flying it, I would have done the self same thing..
