|
|
Hi all,
The rebuilding of the brakes on my 1935 17HP Siddeley continues slowly.
I'm missing all four of the rubber plugs/bungs that cover the hole in the backplate for adjusting the brakes. The hole is 1" long by 5/16" wide, with rounded ends.
I'm told that the backing plate is probably common to a Lanchester, Austin, Morris, or other large cars of the era.
Does the 1" x 5/16" size sound familiar to anyone out there? I've tried providing dimensions to a couple of rubber parts resellers, but they are really only interested in matching to a make and model (and definitely not to Armstrong Siddeley!).
Regards,
Paul. _________________ 1963 Sunbeam Alpine Series 3

Paul,
Have you tried http://www.basisnz.co.nz/? If not, worth browsing their online catalogue or even giving them a call. Well respected company both locally and overseas (usual disclaimer).

Paul,
This was a common arrangement on American cars with drum brakes so I would think that it would be something Holden would have done as well. Have you tried Repco over there? I'm told they are good for classic spares.

Thanks everyone,
I think XW/XY Ford Falcon plugs should fit, so I've ordered four and we'll see how they work.
Thanks for the link to BASIS in NZ, some interesting parts there. If the Falcon parts don't work I'll try BASIS next.
Regards,
