Hi all,
On Saturday 5th March, the Tour of Cheshire took place, a competitive series of tests predominantly tackled by "classic" cars.
Many of the popular makes and models used in historic rallying were in attendance, including several Porsche 911s, Volvo Amazons, Minis, and Mk1/2/3 Escorts.
Rarities spotted include a pre-war MG, Alpine, Volvo P1800 & 144, and a wonderful Sunbeam Tiger, the latter being the #1 car I'd have happily driven home with. No big Healeys this year though.
Various tests were tackled during the day. We popped over to the livestock market in Market Drayton for a morning's series of tests, then later that same pm we headed over to Beeston cattle market, for the loose surface tests. The flooded car park added to the spectacle somewhat, and caught out quite a few ignition systems
Here are a few(!) photos from the day, the afternoon by 4pm being very very chilly indeed
I have to say that taking part did look like a lot of fun.

Typical! The one year that my photos might actually have looked any different from the previous year due to the "water features", is the time I was at the NEC Restoration Show. Oh well.
Looks as if the planned closure of Beeston Cattle Market didn't happen then. |
