Hi
A couple of things I noticed in those films.
1st film
The clutch appeared to have cork type inserts rather than a disc like I have always seen on cars. Was it an oil bath type like motorcycles.

2nd film
I didn't realise that monocoque type construction, rather than separate chassis, came to cars that early.

Yes, that same cork faced clutch existed for a very long time. Starting with the Bull Noses and in use right up to 1939, and yes it was an oil bath clutch.

See: http://www.nostalgiatech.co.uk/new_page_9.htm

I think that Morris Series M Ten was announced in August 1938. This followed the Vauxhall Ten which was the first British saloon car to use monocoque construction.

The reason for the cork clutch was they couldn't keep the oil out on the Continental engines, so they solved it with a wet clutch. Also helps with the lubrication on the dynamometer.
