sound's like a lot of faffing about, for a few more bhp, not a road i'll be going down,
but good information all the same, ta,
another little question, the new aquaplane head's, are they std compression or bumped up a little bit, like fitting an 8hp head to a 10hp motor,? | bumped up a lot, something like 8.1:1 I'll look it up. There various combinations depending on head used and standard gasket and/or copper sheet of different gauges.
I have an 8hp head standing by if I decide to go that route. Priority is getting it to drive in a straight line and feel like I'm in control. _________________ 1957 ford popular |

Camshaft alterations are a time consuming matter. Easiest way is to fit an 8hp head to increase compression ration, and therefore torque. I fitted a machined 10hp head, 8.4 compression ration and a good flow area, in a car weighing 460kg good power to weight ratio. Aftermarket carbs and manifolds help, but to the cost of fuel consumption. All down to how much extra umph you are after.......................... _________________ KA

bought some landrover discovery alpaca leather 3rd row seat's to replace the std pop one's, which were terrible, like an old castiron bed spread, these are 100% better, took all the LR bit's off the bottom of the seat's, just have to make some mounting frame's now,

Hi
I hope this isn't grandma's egg sucking.
Have you tried leaving the S-plugs in and then winding the starting handle to see if compression will start to lift the head? Perhaps tapping round the head with a hide or compo mallet while doing it. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

| i hope you are keeping the original seats as that looks a very nice car and will be worth more as original. I am making changes to mine but all will be reversible and I'm keeping all the original parts, i.e. the 6v Dynamo has been replaced with an alternator in a Dynamo case but I'm keeping the old Dynamo in case someone wants to put it back as standard in the future. _________________ 1957 ford popular |

One way I've shifted a sticky OHV head in the past is to make up some basic brackets to attach lifting tackle to the head itself, using the manifold and rocker studs. I don't know if you could manage something similar with this SV unit, but by lifting just the head the weight of the rest of the car soon persuades the corrosion to let go |

I haven't collected them yet from my mate. When I do I'll fit one and measure and allow for a bit more extension and compression. Vw heritage might be a good place to start searching. _________________ 1957 ford popular |

AN enquirey to the above might get extended and compressed lengths for the shocks intended for lowered VWs? |
WOW, £62.75 each,
thank's alastairq, but a bit too rich for my blood, i'll keep looking, _________________ 1957 - 103e - popular, |
