I once left my Morris 1300GT parked outside the cinema in Yeovil and when I got back to it after the film there was a man in the driver's seat trying to start it with a key. When I challenged him he muttered something about having an identical car, pushed me aside and ran off.

That's entirely possible, David: my father bought a Triumph 2000 new in 1967, and I recall him recounting how he returned to the car, got in, started it, engaged reverse gear ... and saw a hat on the rear shelf. That's funny, he said, I don't have a hat. So he got out, locked the door, walked two cars up the carpark, and got into his identical car!

Don't you just loe old school "security" Laughing
I once stopped in my local High Street to buy a newspaper in my Mk1 Escort (they were oldish at the time). I don't actually remember locking the door but I must have. I think you could press the button on the outside handle and that let you put down the button inside the door, close and Bob's your uncle (Oh the bad habits I have enjoyed over the years).
I came back out, hand in pocket, no key, Oh there it is, hanging in the ignition, door locked. So I remembered all the stuff I had heard about being able to open them with a clothes peg, seached through my pockets, no luck but I thought maybe a 2p peice might just do something, I mean it didn't actually go in the lock, a key, any key would surely have been better.....well no the 2p did the job just fine and I was back in, car started and off home, just shows if you don't try, you will never know Very Happy
