|
|
Ladies and gentlemen may I have your opinions and advice please.
Below is a photo of the Fogranger lights on the front of a Jaguar Mark 2 :
A traditional look and contemporary to the Mark 2. In terms of practicality of additional illumination they are useless even the alternative Spotrangers .
I know that Jaguar's designer Ian Callum caused a lot of controversy with his interpretation of an updated Mark 2 but have a look at his idea for what he has designed in their place .
I'm not into plagiarism but I do like his idea and would like to recreate the additional lights on my own Mark 2 in a similar way and be useful as well
The Fogranger or Spotranger are simply bolted on from behind through a hole in the recess.
Have any of you any ideas how he's created this idea? I thought he may have used 7" Tractor lights but someone has suggested he's used 5 3/4" driving lights from some other manufacturer.
Can you all have a think and let me know your ideas? _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Art, thank you very much for your reply and for taking the time and trouble to investigate and find those links. I like the second idea.
I've got plenty of time to think about this but what you given me is food for thought.

The WFT576 will be an improvement, but not by a lot & it's a very wide fog beam. There is a spot version WLR576.
I think I'd take a look at 5 3/4" headlight units in the existing shells. See if you can find any old unit from any 4-headlamp car & see what mods might be needed to the shell - it might not be much.
Then look for Cibie 57-30-02, 57-32-02 or -07 for just the glass unit. _________________ Mike - MVPeters at comcast.net

Thank you MVPeters. The more suggestions the better. The smaller size headlights from a Jaguar 420 have also crossed my mind.
At this rate I'm sure we are all going to agree on a mutually satisfactory solution. _________________ Starting Handle Expert

Surely, a fog light should have a wide, but flat, beam? So the water droplets don't lift the light beam too much?
Personally I'd have a couple of spots in there, maybe linked to full beam? _________________ Dellow Mk2, 1951 built, reg 1952.
