Hello everyone
Can anybody give me some advice on a replacement ignition coil for my 10 gs1. It's a 12v system.
Also does anybody know the original part no?? Would it have been a Lucas?
Cheers
Peter

I don't know the part number offhand, but any non-ballast 12v coil would do I think (yes I'm sure the original would have been Lucas). Just check the new one has the same electrical connectors, if you want to retain the original look and wiring.

Thanks Rick
I have looked on line and found a Lucas 12v DLB100 which has screwed connectors it states standard coil for use on older cars.
I found an earlier post where someone said that Lucas do not make coils anymore and the types with Lucas stamped on are copies is that true?
I asked the question because there seemed to be quite a few different types.
Cheers
Peter

I assume that any newly-made coil bearing a Lucas transfer will be a copy. The original company disappeared many years ago. If you can find an unused original part, often referred to as NOS (New Old Stock), then that's what I'd go for - if one can be found, but failing that a new "old looking" coil will do the job.

Hi all

Got a replacement coil and condenser plus new points and plugs. Cleaned the carb and found two jets were blocked.
Set the timing by cranking untill piston 1felt at TDC checking points opening with a twelve volt bulb via two crocodile clips. (Still haven't found any timing marks)
Checked compression.
Changed oil and flushed radiator.
Gave it a whirl and it fired up first time in nearly 15 years !!! Was really chuffed I can tell you.
