Stored at Thurleigh airfield apparently awaiting the crusher:

There is a video of the site filmed a couple of months ago; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Taf7o9sOFkc&t=175s

Some screen shots from the video:

Is there no way of saving any of these?

It might well be that some of those are from the scrappage scheme, but quite a few in the screen shots are too new to have been eligible at the time, aren't they? Has anyone compared these shots to the last set of photos that appeared?

Good idea, be better than what seems like a complete waste. Something does seem fishy though, having recently seem the price of old Landrovers!

Disgraceful waste of resources for PC and just plain money grabbing. Neither "green" responsible or having regard for our long gone industrial heritage

My first thought was that these cars have been sorted from a scrappage scheme and put to one side precisely because they are worth saving. Someone somewhere is up to something but goodness knows what.?

I predict that if the present push for all electric vehicles succeeds then this kind of thing will be common place. If in future the owners of classic cars are prevented from using them then basically the game is up. Crying or Very sad

I agree, it's a really depressing sight. Once they're crushed, they're gone forever.

If they are to be crushed, then why would they be parked in like-groups e.g. the Morris 1000s, VWs, Landrovers etc??? A car to be crushed is a car to be crushed. End of story.

Its weird being the same age as old people.
You are either part of the problem or part of the solution

Yes, it looks like a plan to separate out the ones that could be saved but for whatever reason they are stuck in limbo. I believe if a car is officially "scrap" the law prohibits it being re sold. Then again, if they are left for long enough they will fall to bits anyway.

The way I read the scrappage scheme article, if it has been taken into the scheme as scrap it cannot be sold on afterwards, it has to be scrapped.

If we assume that the youth of today are less interested in old cars and that there are probably fewer people to pass on our current collections then does it really matter if this unloved assembly is scrapped? Perhaps some spare parts can be salvaged without breaking the rules.
