Fifth Gear by comparison is very 'low rent' I think - one thing I really like about TG is the quality of the photography in their pieces, its fab. Some of the time they spend sat down waffling in the studio about non-car stuff is a bit of a yawn, but overall I really enjoy it.

May and Hammond like old cars anyway, so perhaps there is hope of more to follow (I did see somewhere that in a later edition they are doing things with 3 1970s cars, probably end up destroying them but there you go! Wink)

Hi

Thanks!

The NER-A-CAR is definateley a bike! hehe Laughing

The Beeston is nice and like I say I have only seen them in the quad format, I like the tank on top!

The Lagonda is nice though, it has the same layout as many tricars with the passenger infront of the driver, then a few are side by side, like the AC sociable. I really like learning/looking about/at these early tri-cars and cycle cars. I have great visions of a victorian lady sitting up front with a huge dress on, and the driver doing his best to hold it in a straight line, unable to see much.

I Would love to go back in time for a while, a week or two, an play with all the things that are being forgotten, or things most people never knew existed. Hmmm, going into a sligt daze!...... Don't mind me...... Confused

Have you ever looked at the Riley Tricar. With my name being David Riley, it would be great to see one/ride in one.

Cheers

Dave

Did anyone else watch Top Gear the other night, 'testing' 3 sad old cars from the dark days of BL? I admit I do have a soft spot for the Dolly Sprint, although this one did look like a bit of a shed, and the SD1 Rover wasn't much better. The Princess, not exactly a car I lust about owning, did at least look in decent nick before they got to it.

Did the SD1's door really fall off all on its own? probably not, although something very similar happened to dad with his '83 XJ6 many years ago. He opened the door to get out, and the top hinge pin fell out, dropping the door somewhat.

It is interesting to peruse old copies of Motor Sport magazine from the 1970s, sooo many letters from disgruntled owners of BL products citing lousy build quality and indifferent dealer support, so perhaps 70s British cars were fairly lousy after all..?

Rick they were lousy alright.... I was there and had the T-shirt!

Nostalgia is fine concerning the old Austins from the 50's as they were a well built and 'honest' product but anything BL from the 70's does not deserve the rose tinted spectacles at all...they were crap! Laughing

Dont spoil the show for me chaps, we get it a lot later here.....should be voted best comedy programme, after ''Summer Wine'' of course.

Does Hammond still have the good sense to drive a Mopar? A Charger if I remember correctly.

Hi

Not seen that! Is his car not a special one in someway, history wise, or am I thinking of another car?

Cheers

who is pressuring them? it looked a bit ropey close in, although tricky to tell on TV admittedly! Smile
