Any suggestions on the best way to sell old stock screws etc.
I estimate approx 25 - 30 thousand of them, Brass & steel,mainly BA, B.S.F, Whit.

I bought a job lot last year for the metal drawers they were in and have around 400Kg of them, far more than I will ever use.

Have sorted and bagged some of them, brass CH head, Pan head, Hex head, csk head 0,2,4 & 6BA in different lengths up to 2" long.

DM,

Why not try sticking a few packs of them on *bay in packs of 10 or so as a tryout.

If you have any 3/8" BSF castle nuts I'd take 100. Also I'd take 200 5/32 BSW 3/4" lengths cheese head screws.

I'd imagine postage will be the biggest issue with selling small quantities - I often wonder how these sellers do it. I try to buy from autojumbles if I need stuff like this, but last time I bought a couple of long bolts from eBay they were 99p delivered, yet they came in a new jiffy bag with £1.10 postage on it.

My experience with the on-line auctions is that small amounts at a reasonable price will attract many more buyers than larger amounts even if the price is much less in a per unit comparison. What I mean is, sell (depending on size and type) tens or up to 50, not a thousand at a time. Word you listing so that should someone want a large quantity, you can negotiate.

Thanks for the replies folks, looks like ebay or an autojumble stand then.

Sorry for being slow replying, I am self employed and doing long days and weekends to keep customers happy.

Dave, once I have finished sorting them I'll let you know if there are any of those sizes.

Ray no sign of a PM from you.

There are a few stockists who specialise in this sort of thing - eg Spalding Fasteners (No connection) maybe they would take the lot off your hands??
