|
|
Hi everyone I’m an old member of old classic however this is my first post on this forum. I’ve had a morris eight for the last 10 years but a couple of months ago she was joined by an Austin 10. This car is in less than perfect condition... as in the previous owner has started a resto 😳😱
Anyway get ready for a bunch of questions because the only thing I recognise is the SU carb and I realise that’s not original.
So for my first question - has anyone taken apart an Austin fuel pump? The owners manual says not to because a “special fixture” is needed to put it back together?
Ps: I’ll try work out how to pop photos up later, I’m sure I remember there being instructions on gear somewhere. |

Not sure if I’m doing something wrong or is it not possible to see the photos? |

Thanks penman. Which ones do you recommend? I feel like I have one by Abbey for the morris eight that is quite good. Unfortunately I’m not old enough to be able to say I learnt to drive in anything as cool - Toyota coldina is NOT a cool car!! |

Hi
I'd go for the Pitmans, Abbey book.
What I don't know is whether the ones covering the later dates as well as the earlier ones have reduced coverage on those earlier ones or have just got thicker..
These people might be able to help about that though.

Hi
Looking at the H/Lamps, it looks as if it still has the switch and dip system rather than double dip. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.

The rest of the interior:
Anyone know if this roof light is original?
Looks like a dimmer foot pedal? I’ve seen them in other cars but never used one...
As you can see the wall lining seems in ok condition however sets and roof are a mess. Was it normal for the lining to be the same colour (green) as the exterior and the seats to be brown? |

Hi
Yes, that is the dip switch.
Personally, if we only had dip these days I would rather have it down there than the stalk type; but of course we now have the flash function as well which would be more difficult to include. _________________ Bristols should always come in pairs.
