Hi
Would also suggest you make sure you have 4 straps bone for each wheel, I despair, when out in the one from work, the number of times I see them with only 2 in use (1 front and the other diagonally at the rear).
If the pressure down on the tyre should cause an over pressure blowout then they are left with only one holding the load.
This could be even more important with old tyres like the MG.
l'll second that; I was one right behind a beaver tail as the MGF rolled off the back ripping the front bumper off fortunately I managed to stop! A couple of months ago I passed a young lad who had a car come off the back of a transporter, the car was up a verge and he was picking up the fragments of the shattered transporter tail lamps.

I always use 4 straps and leave the winch strap on for good measure.

Good advice all round.

As a rule we always have 4 straps on and leave the winch connected.

I had all four wheels secured with the correct ratchet straps, the hand brake on and left in gear but as I hadn't used the winch it hadn't occurred to me to connect it.

If I use a transporter again I will definitely attach the winch as well.

Thanks for the advise.
